"Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa" Peach Cobbler

Way back in the late 60's there was a recipe going around called "Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa". It was such a hit with all of us "new" young wives, trying to impress our husbands with our cooking prowess! And saying "Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa" was just as cool as saying "Cous Cous", "Edamame" and the ubiquitous "Seviche". Well looking through my recipes I came across this old friend, and made it last night for my husband, of 30 years! Nothing to prove to him now! So here is the recipe for: "Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Peach Cobbler" 1 cup self rising flour , 1 cup sugar , 1 cup milk , 1 stick butter or margarine , 1 tsp vanilla , 1 bag frozen peach slices thawed ( you can use other fruits too, like blueberries), Cinnamon to shake on top. Melt butter in about a 2 quart baking dish. Mix all flour, milk, sugar, and vanilla together till smooth. Pour this mixture over the melted butter in your baking dish, do not stir. Spoon Peaches into the dish, on top of all, do not stir. Shake Cinnamon on top and Bake in a 400 degree oven for 40 minutes. The crust will rise to the top! Serve warm with Whip Cream or Ice Cream. I'm sure this recipe has survived under another name, but it will always be "Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa" to me.
A Big P.S. I made this recipe tonight using 1 can of  DelMonte Pineapple TidBits drained.  Just add it in like you would the peaches, shook alittle cinnamon, baked it, and voila...deelish! We
liked it even better than Pineapple Upside Down Cake!

Enter the Dragon!

Being sooo bored I wanted to start a small project, a little mosaic, something that wouldn't take too long or would force me to buy anything new. Use just what was on hand, and I must admit I do have a lot of stuff on hand. Wayne had given me a black ceramic vase, that I was going to turn upside down and make a plant stand out of, so I am going to mosaic this, I started looking through my folders of tear outs, you have these folders too don't you..all the things you love or want to do. Well nada, no inspiration..until the mail came this afternoon, and my Traditional Home Magazine arrived, and there it was an omage to the Chinese New Year, The Year of the Dragon! I have never made a dragon, but I am going to give it a go. I have begun this mosaic by putting a blue border at the bottom of the vase, and made the dragon in blue, I will add a styalized version of a lotus blossom and the background will be white. I have a feeling this will look very folksy. Wish me luck!

Dressing Table Nostalgia

Today I found a great blog site showing pictures of beautiful Dressing Tables, I want to share this site with you. http://rosesandrustblogger.blogspot.com . Sharon is in Cape Town South Africa, I think when you see the beautiful homes, you will rethink your previous perceptions.
This posting has reminded me of being nine years old and designing my dream bedroom. I made drawings for every wall of the room. My mom had these for a long time, but don't know what happened to them. I had designed a room with two walls of floor to ceiling windows, on these window walls I had pictured sheers flowing in the breeze in a pale shade of lavender and alternating with white. The third wall held my dressing table, set back in an alcove, it had a ballerina sheer full gathered to the max skirt, in this pale lavender. At the top of the alcove the sheers were gathered in a knot and draped down each side of the dressing table. A gold mirror exteded from the ceiling to the top of the dressing table. The drawers had sparkaly glass crystal knobs. Next to the alcove was a closet with the crystal knobs and a white dresser with crystal knobs, and the entry door. The fourth wall had a bed in the pale lavender bedding with pillows in white, at the foot of the bed on the floor I had beautiful square pillows in lavender sitting on white carpet. The window wall was to the left of the bed and came around to the end of the bed. I could lay in bed and watch the sheers flow with the breeze. I have tears in my eyes just thinking of this, I had even drawn the little lines coming off the knobs showing they sparkled. so emotional thinking of this..
Now at nine I had never seen a picture of anything like this, a wall of floor to ceiling windows..crystal knobs..it's amazing to think back on this forward thinking little girl, Me.

All of Christmas is gone from 539! I have been so sore from climbing, packing, stacking, and fitting the boxes in my closet! But all is done. Well I say Christmas is gone, but really I just can't seem to hide it all away, I have an omage to The Holiday set up in my closet. I arrange one side of the closet so that whenever I want to see a little sparkle, all I have to do is open, and Voila...Christmas! I kinda make it like a little Christmas Shoppe! Do you do strange things like this? Well it makes me happy to see all the ornaments and bright colors, plus since I do presentations, I actually start thinking Christmas in July! So I guess this is my inspiration Closet!

Winter??

Yesterday Wayne and I had to put all the plants in the garage, a freeze is a come'n. I think it probably went to about 30 out here at the Beaches, which is low enough to damage all the tropicals and some of the succulents. So in they came! When this front moved in last night the wind was the factor, gust to 45 mph, I just knew a huge limb would blow down out of one of the Oaks, or Maples, or the scurge of the earth (I think it is called Sweet Gum). This Sweet Gum tree drops prickly balls that settle in the grass, roof, pots, walkways...honestly if I had to flee my house in barefeet, God help me I wouldn't make it 2 feet out the door! Who in their right mind would purposely plant such an animal!  I went out this morning to check out the damage to things I covered, all seemed to make it through. I always look at the impatients first, if they're not in a mushy pile, I know all is ok! But I looked in the birdbath and the top of the water was frozen! At 11:30 am! Wow, porch thermometor in our screeded room reads 45 degrees. Must still be the wind chill.. I snapped a couple of pics and ran back inside, after petting Gracie my Garden Cat.
